race car cupcakes

i bake some cupcakes yesterday, to surprise a nephew shahriman whose 9th birthday falls today, on deepavali day. i only managed to decorate the cupcakes just now as i had to attend a cousin's wedding in ipoh last night.

as shahriman is more into motorsports, mother suggested that we should buy the same car chocolate that i did for another nephew daniel. luckily a local supermarket still sells that. this time i didn't unwrap the car chocolate, but placed them exactly as it is on the decorated cupcakes instead. i guess it looks much real that way.

we gonna bring the kids plus shahriman for breakfast at mcD in ipoh later. we will see of where we shall surprise shahriman with his race car birthday cupcakes. do check back my personal blog later for the updates :~)

personalized cupcakes

megat was so happy yesterday that he got the chance to make with me; the cupcakes for his classmates meant as a raya treat. you can view last years' one here. take note that i like the above pic— its all been explained here. you can see the movement of megat's hand placing the paper cups in its place. we can also see megat's expressions. nice.

megat helped me to do some simple things though like beating the eggs, putting the ingredients in the mixer, placing the paper cups and sort. he's not that brave to weigh the ingredients yet though. he afraid that he won't do it right. anyhow i will still let him try very soon.

we just make do with a simple design with the children's name, as long as we could assure that the children would be as happy as megat, especially when they would have their own cupcakes with their own name written on it. i know they would. tell me which kids don't right.

my oly is with megat. i will get it back during his recess time. i can't wait to see the children's faces.

Wednesday, October 08, 2008 tiffany & co (?)

my cupcakes are all ready for my former high school's OGA (short for old girl's association occay?) committee meeting later in the evening. during our last meeting in the mid of ramadhan, it was actually my grand auntie pah mimi's idea for us to have potluck for this meeting, since we are all still in the raya mood. then i was like— "wohoo!!!... i am only good in cupcakes, so i'll bring cupcakes ler kan? hehee...".

my butter cupcakes a bit shrink this time around :( so i came out with the idea to decorate them with a double swirl design. lotsa used of buttercream though i.e. doubleeeee!!! as usual. i am sure the senior citizens not keen with it. but anyhow they could always take out the buttercream, then eat the cupcakes instead, not a problem with that :)

in terms of taste, texture and such, my version of tiffany & co cupcakes *glurp* have been tested and passed thru my personal QS i.e. mama hehee...

* * * * *

in fact, i did the same colour for my lil' sis' last saturday, who as usual wanna served my cupcakes for her colleagues for the raya. i decorated hers with my signature design. she's the only malay in the office, so she opt for the very simple one! that is bring cupcakes and gave them away for raya treats :P

please go here to see the raya cupcakes i did for my lil' sis last year.

Saturday, July 19, 2008 banana chip muffins

we had banana chip muffins (recipe by anne williamson, found at all recipes.com) for breakfast today. i guess the first time i baked this was last year. i remember that time puteri said that she smelled something like the traditional kuih 'cucur kodok' heheee... yea right!!! the bananas had to be mashed too that's why lol... anyhow you can go here to try the cucur kodok recipe.

i was so glad to see the looks of my kids happily eating healthy homemade breakfast. that really makes me as a mother feel sooo good i tell you. see people... aren't homemade breakfast wonderful? try it and you won't regret it! in fact it was so simple-- just chuck everything in the mixing bowl cuz for muffin you only need to moisten the batter that's all then... wolla!!! the best thing is this recipe doesn't use butter, but vegetable oil instead. it took me less than 15 minutes only to prepare the batter. cooking time is +/- 25 minutes. and without you realizing it, they already finished in no time at all heheee...

kuE's note:
if you agreed with me on the goodness of having homemade breakfast, read more about this here.

Friday, July 11, 2008 the 3-tones green

this is my first trial on glace icing. i am glad that it turns out o-k-a-y! it can be poured over the cake or cupcake to give a smooth glossy finish. by introducing another color icing, it is also used in making feathered icing. maybe i'll try that some other time.
